Personality[edit | edit source]

Werewolves have always been said to be a more feral strain of folk, and Julius is certainly that. He has very little patience for those that cross him, or for those that cross his friends. Once crossed, he is relentless in his pursuit of vengeance against the slight, regardless of what it may be. It must also be said, however, that Von Albrecht is equally as loyal to those who do well by him and by his people, seeking to repay those that do him justice with their just reward. In short, there is no better friend nor worse enemy to have than Julius Von Albrecht.

However, until he is thus incensed with anger or gratitude, Julius is actually a very kind, quiet individual with an appreciation for the finer things in life. Unless lost in some sort of supernatural work or another - which, granted, is more often than not - his entire estate is kept in rather spartan order, as is the rest of his life. This is not to say that he is incapable of spontaneity, for quite the opposite is true, merely that he has such a busy schedule that if he didn't keep perfect track of it, he'd miss most of his appointments, most of which are very important.

As a rule, Julius never makes any appointments after eight o'clock, and never on the day of the full moon. In these after-hours, he prefers to spend his time amongst his many loved ones, whether it be in raucous parties or having a quiet dinner. When he does have to conduct business after-hours or on the day before a full moon, it puts him in all kinds of a foul mood, and he finds himself having to apologize for himself time and time again. And, although proud, he is not afraid to apologize even to those he considers beneath him.

Which brings us to the matter of Julius' status. As an Alpha Wolf, Julius believes - perhaps rightly so, even - that he is better than ordinary Lycans. He sees other Werewolves and most certainly non-werewolf supernaturals and without a doubt the brainless human race as inherently beneath him. This is not to say that he still doesn't have a healthy respect for all of those parties, except perhaps for the humans, he just feels that their station, their "place" in the scheme of things, isn't quite so high in purpose as is his own. This also leads him to expect a high level obedience from his pack and even from his associates, and he treats insubordination as the worst possible crime against him, short of outright betrayal.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Julius was born into power twice, first as heir to the venerable Count Von Albrecht, and second as an Alpha Wolf. He was raised in the most noble of estates, a sprawling mansion that was home to an entire Werewolf pack. Surprisingly enough, it was not the Count Von Albrecht that was the Alpha Wolf in the pack. Rather, it was his uncle, a man with no mate of his own who had little chance of producing an heir at all. Therefore, he had two different mentors in his youth, one teaching him how to be a good Count, and the other how to be a good Wolf.

It was not discovered that Julius was an Alpha Wolf - and an exceptionally powerful one at that - until he was already grown through puberty. Though the title of Count was purely a symbolic and hereditary one, meaning nothing more than that he would inherit the lands his father owned and holding no particular political meaning whatsoever, the title of "Alpha Wolf" meant something real. It came with expectations of greatness and leadership, and he was taught from very early after this discovery that the future of the entire pack would likely be very heavily invested with his own. And although he was at first frightened by and even rebellious against this idea, as the years went on, he gradually grew to like the idea, and bit by bit, his profound sense of loyalty grew out of that early knowledge.

No pack can stand to have two alphas, however. As Julius continued to grow, he and his aging uncle came into more and more conflict. This only grew worse after his father finally succumbed to his own extreme old age and took to his sickbed. Without that buffer in the way, it was only a matter of time before things came to a head. As it happened, the result was open battle. In an unexpected gambit resolution to the whole situation, Julius recklessly challenged his Uncle for leadership of the pack. And he fought bravely. And he was beaten and battered and bitten and torn. And through it all, he still managed to emerge the victor. Normally, this would have meant putting his uncle in the dungeon for the rest of his days, but Julius also proved unusually merciful, and he allowed his uncle to live his last days in exile, not cared for by the estate any longer, but at least free to live or die as he wished. He never heard from the man again, though he was told of his death several years later and mourned his passing dearly.

Time went on, and the world changed. Julius led his pack through crisis, into war and into peace. He lost and won multiple fortunes, seeing his pack live in the highest opulence through the twenties and supporting them through dire poverty in the thirties. He saw the Nazi regime rise and fall in the forties, and he and his pack mates tore out more than one Arian throat. He was truly introduced to the Human capacity for prejudice and hatred in the 50s, and he made a point of standing for what was right with Martin Luther King Jr. in the sixties. He tolerated the Hippie movement as it bled into the seventies, and in the eighties railed against captivity to the age of technology. And then the nineties came, and everything got more complicated.

It was the year of our lord nineteen hundred and ninety-six when Julius was approached with an offer to sit on the Elder Council. Its Lycan representative had recently died a violent death in the middle-east, and in his will, he wished for his seat to be offered to Julius. Somewhat surprised that he had merited such favorable attention from the traditional sector, Julius proudly accepted the offer. Now balancing the responsibility of leading the pack with the responsibility with leading the supernatural world, Julius found himself on a knife's edge for the first time in living memory. He grew into the role quickly, however, rising to and surpassing the learning curve involved in such an endeavor, and over the past two decades, has become a well-respected member of the council. He and his pack hit the front lines in the war against the rebellion, and have been steadfast soldiers in the Traditionalist armies since its onset.
