Cody Bridger

Cody sat on a boulder, eyes trained towards the dark sky. The sun had set two hours ago and just as it had set the storm that the weatherman had forecast had actually arrived. The wind had picked up and then the rain had started; nice warm rain, followed by thunder and lightning. Now the rain had tapered off for the most part but the natural light show still remained.

This was Cody's favorite part of any storm; the brightness and patterns of the cloud to cloud or cloud to ground lightning and the rumbling of the thunder. He didn't know why but he always got a bit of a thrill from watching it. It was strange, he knew that which was why he didn't tell just anyone that he liked to go outside and watch thunderstorms.

The young Lycan checked his wristwatch, it was only a little after 9 pm, the little village of Marken would still be booming at this time; what restaurant's they had wouldn't even be closing for another two hours so he still had plenty of time to just sit there in the almost absolute darkness. It wasn't totally dark, Cody had brought along an electric lantern but had kept it at his lowest setting, and it was on the ground near the boulder so it wouldn't mess with the lighting. Cody wasn't in Marken, he wasn't even entirely in Keukenhof either, he was in the forested area between them, so he was close enough to home where he could get back in a hurry if he absolutely had to. Sighing, Cody stood up. His legs were starting to get a little stiff. He slid off of the boulder and on to the wet ground. He loved the smell out of the outside world after it rained, it just smelled so fresh and clean; vibrant too.

Bending down he started to grab for the lantern when he stopped. He got that feeling that someone was nearby. He couldn't see them or smell them but he could feel them. It was like that feeling you get on the back on your neck when someone is eying you. Standing straight up Cody took a half step back from the lantern and looked out in to the darkness. He couldn't see anything but that feeling was still there. He didn't want to have to fight and he didn't want to have to change in to his Lycan form either. Changing once a month was painful and dangerous enough!

“Hello?” Cody called out in to the darkness. He wasn't entirely sure if he would get a response or not and even if he did that didn't mean that whoever it was wasn't an enemy. He hated waiting and the unknown but there was nothing else to be done. He already told himself that he wouldn't turn tail and run, that wasn't going to happen.
